Disappointed new seller, can I make this train set look more attractive?

I have listed my son's wooden train collection on Ebay. He has outgrown it (9 now), but we built up quite a collection over 3 or 4 years, it has over 130 pieces.

I haven't sold very much before, but had a look at other wooden train stuff that has sold on the site, and thought this would be popular.

I started it at only £9.99 (£12.50 for courier delivery, it's heavy, free for collection), but no-one has bid, and I've only 1 watcher.
I'll be sad if it goes for only a tenner (altho pleased to get back the space it takes up)

I know that's the luck of the auction, but can anyone advise me if any of the listing should be revised to help sell it?
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

I would advise to do some easy but effective things if you're not doing them yet:

Put loads of pictures in the auction: close-ups, different angles etc

Use photobucket or auctiva or similar-to give potential buyers possibility to see high resolution pictures. Photobucket is extremely easy and best of all free to use.

Reserch if there's a cheaper courier available. For example check at www.payperparcel.co.uk

Well and of course good detailed description, spot-on keywords are very important. How many visits have you had in total? If too little your auction may be not easy to find. Good luck!

How long has it been on there? how long left?

Personally I always start auctions at 99p (although it is a while since I sold) it get the intrest going. Even on cars.

I put it on on Sunday, for 7 days. There have been 15 hits on it.

I did research the courier costs, and £12.50 is the best price I can get, given that I need to add some packing materials too. It does include insurance.

Don't forget , that a lot of people don't bid until the last few minutes of the auction ending ;) ...

    Mandy ( .... edited ....your email addy !!! .... )

You may be better off by using the PM ( private messages ) button at the top of each page to contact anyone on MSE , rather than putting your email address in a post , as you never know who's " lurking on here ! ;) ...
( Personally , if i was you , i would edit the email address from the post ... )

I'd likely pull the auction and put it up as a BIN.

I've had valuable things go for nothing, and they rarely say thank you.

I assume you did a search for similar items? are you listing in the same catagory?

When you say you haven't sold much before? is this on ebay, was it recent? how much was it worth? do you have 100% Feedback?

As mentioned most bids will go in late on, but this is usually predictable if you have a few watchers.
