little help please

Hi i applied for dla recently as i have bad joints and struggle withsme of the most easiest tasks in the world, doint a button up ,moving a pan off the cooker, walking up the stairs without pain, stuff we all take for granted. Anyway I got a letter today saying they couldn't make a decision yet as have requested a report frommy gp.The problem I have is basically my gp was rubbish and recently had problems with them ( see my thread dr called me a fatty) so I only changed dr surgery recently.I ahve informed them dla that is who will they write to my old gp or the new one who I haven't had my first appointment with yet so knows nothing about my situation

From my experience they will write to the GP you noted on your application form. Even if they haven't seen you they should be able to give an assessment based on your medical records. If these are inaccurate then you will be able to appeal against a negative DLA decision which may involve going to see one of their doctors.

They'll contact the one you put down on your form, as the old one's the only one that knows about your condition then if they were to contact the new one I'd imagine they'd just have to say they didn't have enough information to supply a report. When they requested a report from my OT I got the letter through a week before she did, so you might have time to go for an appointment with new doc? Then you can give DWP new dr's info, and hopefully get a better outcome. Whatever happens, you can always appeal, good luck :)

Put in for an appeal & in the mean time find yourself an experienced welfare rights advisor to help you with the appeal.

If you don't know of any in your area, phone your local council who should be able to give you details of any in your locality.

You never know, it may not even go to appeal but be granted on reconsideration if you are lucky. All appeal applications are given reconsideration as a first step.

Write down your limitations on a sheet of paper, using bullet points & ask that this be kept in your medical file at your gp surgery. This way the gp then has a better idea of how your condition affects you in your day to day life.

Also go to see the gp, as ladylumps suggests & tell him/her you're appealing a dla decision & would appreciate their support.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
