Have you been overcharged for Gas and/or Electricity???
If you can't be bothered to read my long rambling story, then the short one is that if they have estimated your bill at all, call them, ask to speak to a manager and you might get money back - my monthly bill was reduced by £110 and they are refunding £195.
I thought my bills were not correct as I was paying £278 per month for gas and electric combined. I used to pay around £130 per month. Obviously, prices have gone up, but this seemed a lot!
So I called them and gave them an up to date meter reading, they said they would look into it but couldn't do the calculation right then as the system was down - they said to call back.
So I did yesterday, and was told that they could lower my bill to £168 per month. When I asked the woman why this was the case and said that I wanted to know exactly what the status of my account was i.e debit / credit on either supply, she then gave me a long winded explanation of how a higher rate is charged in the winter etc, etc!!
I wasn't happy with this explanation and she was quite rude and condescending so I asked to speak to a manager.
The manager was very polite, looked at the details and admitted I was being overcharged because they had used an estimate for the electricity since last August - in his words "sometimes it can go a bit haywire" You're not kidding!!
He confirmed that I should be paying £168 pm and then said "let me just check something else"...."oh yes, good news, we also owe you £195.30"
So it was well worth the call, and also asking to speak to the manager - no mention was made of a refund by the first person I spoke to.
Happy saving!
