Hiya Lady Pink, welcome to the fray.
I quite agree regarding jewellery. I had a tired old top on today, with m' usual black trousers, but because i had a fab string of purple beads (6.99 from ann harveys) I got loads of compliments. the beads gave both the clothes and me a lift!
Just having a look on that under 5 pounds site mentioned earlier, and picking up a few bits for forthcoming birthdays etc. Fantastic find, sothanks to whomever recommended the site to us.

I would also add (if it helps) that if you find a style of top that suits you - buy another one or two in another colour if it will match something else, or perhaps another of the same colour if you can get away with it. It really saves money in the end if you don't buy something thinking it looks "ok"...you end up not wearing it but if something really suits you....you'll be happy to wear it all the time...hence having two is a great idea! Good luck with your shopping spree - what fun!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Lady_Pink wrote:Here's my two pennorth (very new to this site and feel almost scared to post!) - the supermarket jewellery and accessory ranges are actually rather fab. No one compliments by £50 earrings but when I've had my £3 specials on loads of people have said how much they like them. It's a bit hit and miss but I've had some fab stuff at Asda, Sainsburys and so on - even superdrug does them now. Dorothy Perkins do some nice things too - that way I can get away with wearing the same old plain clothes but putting on some up to date or unusual accessoriess really "makes the outfit".
I never thought to look in those places for accessories - thanks!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi,
I find that you usually wear the same clothes each week, they always end up being washed week in week out and this is because they are comfortable and you feel good in them. As for the other 3/4 of the wardrobe... Well, once being a size 8/10 and now being 12/14, I have finally thrown all the 10's away, I'm 40 this year and don't think I am gonna starve myself down to an 8 or a 10. Which leaves half the wardrobe size 12 and having to face the fact that unless I get some exercise and reduce the amount of food I eat, I am staying a 14. I am going to try... As for the remainder of the wardrobe, there's suite from previous jobs and going out clothes.
Sometimes, I do open the wardrobe and think, empty it, don't look at it and start again but being a moneysaver, this goes against the grain. I have been thinking lately, that I would prefer a different system for storing clothes, as a lot of tops and small clothes I have in a side dresser but I hate wading through to find a top and am now starting to wish I bought a cube like system, so when I've washed the clothes and folded, I could place them in their compartment, like what you see in shops, so that they are easy to access. The trouble of being a woman...0 -

Most of my clothes are black or brown, sounds boring but it's not really they are colours that suit me and now that I am no longer earning it's easier to keep up with fashion by buying some new cheap accessories or cheap 'now' fashion to mix in. Primark and Peacocks are good for this.
I read never throw way anything black or denim and I think it's good advice.
I am usually size 12 but now and then go up to 14 and have found it useful to leave in my wardrobe good things in size 14 tha I can wear until hopefully the wight drops off again. Anyone else like this.:DWomen and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I went shopping today and had a good look at the clothing in Boyes (a regional chain of department stores). I had always dismissed the clothes as market-quality tat to be honest, but I had a proper look through them today after I noticed that lots of the underwear was on Marks and Spencers hangers! They had been 'debranded' (labels removed) but they were definitely M+S smalls and for incredible prices - a bra/pants set for £6!
Then I was idly browsing a rack of jeans when I saw a pair with a familiar three-heart logo. The same as the logo on the pair of Per Una jeans I got from the charity shop and which fit me perfectly! Again they were debranded but the buttons said Per Una on them - and only £5!!! They would be £35 from M+S - and at my local Oxfam they charge a fiver for even cheap second-hand jeans. I also got an Animal t-shirt for half the price they are in the shops. They also had Kickers stuff, Elle t-shirts and other good brands for very low prices.
I thought we could share our 'de-branded' clothing finds, as this is a great way of getting really good quality clothes for cheap.0
