easyjet, flyglobespan and how to save a little

we travel to spain a lot and as a family of 4 we always book all 4 together but tonight I saw there was a price change as I mistakenly put 2 adults instead of 3 ( my sons 15) the flight out went down £10 and so did the return flight which meant if I booked myself and son then my wife and little girl on 2 seperate bookings making sure it was the same flight, then I could save £20 per person saving a total of £80 if we travel 4 times a year as we do then thats a great saving

hope someone else may find the same savings worth while, just make sure you book a adult with a child as they won't let a child fly themself

sorry if this has been posted before but its the first I have saw a saving like that.

there's always the nagging doubt that you'll manage to book 2 people on and then it goes pear shaped when you try to book the other 2 !!!

yes that does cross my mind , but I was looking at the october flights as we always book so far ahead so we can get the holidays we want, and had 2 screens openned so I do the search for both at the same time click the continue to buy on one then the next and fill the buy with in seconds, so it worked a treat

but I know what you mean try that with a stand by for the next week-end and I doubt it would work but longer dated flights it should work

From previous postings on this board, it would appear that the budget airlines sell seats in 'blocks'. For example, the first 10 are £20, the next 10 are £30 and so on. If you search for 4 seats and it gives you a price of £30 per seat but only £20 per seat if you search for 2 this means that there are not enough seats in the cheaper block to accomodate your party. Therefore, the whole lot is charged at the next price bracket, leaving the 2 or 3 cheaper seats still available.

    Hope that all made sense.
