Scrappage scheme...this year only?
what about those who have a 9 year old car this year, will the scheme run again next year?....I would hold onto mine for another 9 months if it was....hopefully if its an annual thing...manufacturers will have sorted out the teething problems by then....lol

I'm reliably informed it's for the long haul, so no worries. I also have a 10 year old car but why on earth would anyone buy a new car and see the savings they just made disappear the moment you drive it 1 yard? Stuff the scheme, buy a nice low mileage 1 year old car and you've just saved an absolute fortune.Pants0

I've read that it's only lasting a certain amount of months (perhaps only 9) and it might be less if the government pot of money is all taken up. I wouldn't expect it to be around next year.
I'd agree with the previous post though - and buy a 1 year old car.0 -
It runs until the end of Feb 2010 or a sooner date if the money the govt allocated to it is used up earlier. You need to do it now as ordering against it is rife - genuinely - and from Jan 1st VAT goes back to 17.5% so you'll be diluting the saving by 2.5% if your new car is invoiced after Jan 1st.
So far, since Monday, 64% of our incoming orders over 3.5 days have been using the scrap scheme.“Official Company Representative
