    Well, that's what I thought but you can't argue with someone who actually gets it! Perhaps scat will give you more info if you pm her and maybe you can go for it?
    I have applied for it every year (tick the box) and I never get approved.

    Perhaps they have much higher rent/mortgage than you do? (To be honest, I never knew that came into it - you do learn things here!)

    I expect you're right. I can't remember exactly what was taken into allowance: def' loan repayment of £200 pm, rent £650 pm and council tax of £150 pm. There were a few smaller things as well like contents insurance. I think it's not so much about what your partner earns as how much he is deemed to have left! I also have a 16 year old son so he may have made a difference - had to declare his EMA allowance! It was a right pain to claim at the time, they asked for a lot of paperwork, but obviously worth it in the end. Not sure I'll get it again this year though as loan has now been repaid in full and I think that probably tipped the balance. Worth mentioning that you have to prove these are financial committments you have had well in advance of the course. No good taking out a loan a month before thinking it will get offset!
