Acer AspireOne Hibernate/Sleeping issue

I have an ApireOne A150AB (512MB and 120GB HDD) running Linux. Whne left for a period it will hibernate and comes back to life by touching the pad or a key. If left for a longer period (30 mins plus maybe) it goes a stage further. The power button flashes orange. Touching the pad or a key has no effect. Pressing the power button it turns green and the boot up (dark grey/black) screen comes on (show press F2 for setup, etc). The screen then goes pale blue with a horizontal white line approx 25 mm from the screen bottom with the words ASPIREONE (about 15 mm high) in the bottom right hand corner above the white line. I cannot get beyond this screen. Even holding the power key down and turning off and then power on again has no effect. It sticks at this pale blue screen. However, if left for long enough (2 or 3 mins or perhaps a bit longer) on this pale blue screen it eventually continues to boot up properley. I do not know or understand why this happens or indeed if it should happen. (I must admit though that out of frustration I have pressed random keys whilst the screen is "stuck" on the pale blue screen, so not too sure if one of those keys does anything to move it on!!)

Any advice welcome about whether this is normal. Whether I can change any settings to stop it happening. And, if it does happen anyway how I can move it along to boot up properly without this long delay. Thanks

    What distro are you running?

Are there any power saving options in the BIOS of the laptop?

Can you explain distro? I am running the installed Linux version O/S not Windows XP O/S if that helps?

How do I check the BIOS for power settings?

Sorry but not too clued up on some terms and other bits.

    Thanks.

Some have updated the BIOS in order to fix this problem, but it is done at your own risk.

From the European website or the UK website

Maybe you can contact ACER to ask if they recommend such an action for this problem.

    Thanks,

So, I assume it would just be best to put up with this then. I also assume that it is just a pain in the proverbial and as long as you can wait a few mins it correctsa itself? Or could it have more serious implications like getting hooked up for good?

It's short for distribution; in your case, this is Linpus Lite.

As I advised, you should contact ACER in order to find out if the BIOS update fixes this problem.
It should only take a few seconds for the machine to wake up from Hibernation.

I tested my machine for this problem many times before installing XP. I didn't experience the problem, but wanted to make sure the machine wasn't faulty within the seven day grace period.
