Negotiatiing payments - capital one

I have been put on short time from 40hrs a week to 20 , thus cutting my salary down to about £500 a month. I have contacted people I owe money to to try and get some lower monthly payments . The only people it seems that have a problem with this is Capital One. The say they will only accept £100 as the lowest payment as oppose to ME telling THEM what I can currently afford. And it does not matter how many times I have told them this month that nothing can be resolved untill the 29th , they send a letter and call me vertually eveyday asking for more money . We end up have the same conversation over and over again. Are they Complete Dimwits ? ( putting it politely of course)
Has anyone has the same problem ? and are they within the law to tell ME what I should afford as oppose to the other way round.

I dont know if they are within the law to do this but they tried to do the same thing with and they told me I have to pay a specific sum but I told them I simply cant do that but I can afford £80 so they accepted and and didnt even add a missed payment onto my credit report which I found quite nice of them!

So i dunno hun but thats my experience
