I'd say go for flattish comfy shoes and smart trousers in case you have to take part in any physical activity.
Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice. :(

My cousin had to play Twister at her recruiment event so trousers may be a better choice!

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your advice on the interview, glad to say it went well and I have been offered a teaching position in Italy!

    So glad it went well.

    Thanks again everyone!

Don't forget like any part of the application process, you are being assessed as to whether you can follow basic instructions or not. Turning up in a power suit when you have been asked to come in smart casual will do you no favours. As suggested, smart trousers, shirt and jumper will suffice. The key is to be presentable, professional, confident during all aspects of the interview and don't be afraid to take the iniative in situations where natural leadership may be lacking.

If you want to be extremely canny, turn up early take your power suit in a suit carrier and if you see other people plainly turning up in smart, smart, then you can do a quick Superman (or woman ;) ) moment in the building lavatories or a nearby garage/fast food outlet.
