JSA Contributions Base to JSA Income Based

Hi all,

I have just had a letter from jobseekers to advise that my max allowance of 182 days for JSA Contributions Base is not far away. Can anyone tell me what happens when the 182 day comes up. Do i need to put in a new claim or contact them before hand or does everything get done automaticaly over to income based if i have no job by then.

If anyone can please advise me.

Many Thanks
Chris

They should send you out a form to update your details as the will require more from you. Not sure if it can be done over the phone but IMO it would be worth ringing them.

You will need to contact them and request a JSA3 form to claim JSA (Income Based)

    Hi,

You will only get JSA Income Based if you dont have a working partner. I am on JSA Cont Based and it finishes beginning of Oct but I wont be entitled to anything after that as my husband works full time, he doesnt earn a lot but we wouldnt be eligible, I am hoping to go to Uni in September though so it wont matter

Is your partner on the Contributory part of ESA?

It might be better for you to be added to her claim than the other way round though god knows how long it would take ESA to get everything together. ESA and JSA are paid off the same system and because of that the system is probably going to have a melt down when they try to sort this out. Your partners National Insurance number is already on JSAPS (The Job Seekers Allowance Payment System) with a live claim and when they try to add her NI number to your claim it might not accept it.

Best of luck - I will try to check this scenario out again tomorrow - see if maybe the system is working better than it was.
