Young carers allowance?

I am disabled, i have Uvitis and being investigated for MS and RA
Uvitis alone does not warrant me able to claim DLA or carers allowance,
But after having such a bad time at work as my short term memory seems to be failing me (don't know why) i am not learning as quick as they would want me to and i have my formal capability meeting tomorrow (another story, union backing me and disability forum too)
My son (14) has had to help me so much the last few weeks whilst i have been in so much joint pain that i feel so proud of him, i understand there is a young carers allowance, would i be able to (or could he) claim for this, i am working part time, so only get my wages and small amount of wtc and ctc, i'm struggling financially to give him pocket money.
I used to be a young carer when i was a child 20 odd years ago, there was no such thing back then, although i did win child of achievement at the time.
I would like to think he is entitled to the Yca, not just for the money, but for the support they give.
any advice please?

Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

I'm not aware of a young carers allowance, but have a look at the carers website:

I am uncertain as to whether there is a young carers allowance but where I live, in Derbyshire there is a young carers support service. They work with young people who care for a relative and take them out doing something that they are interested in. They also pay for the cost of most activities. Well done to your son! :T there is no wonder you are proud of him! He sounds like a lovely lad:A0 -
there is no carers allowance for under 16s or those who attend college for more than 21 hrs a week or those who earn more than £95 a week.0
