The travelodge at Tamworth is apparently 6 miles from Drayton Manor and has £29 rooms for a lot of June dates and £19 rooms for 1st and 2nd July. I don't know what combination the 17 people are in rooms, but I just managed to get to the booking stage with 4 family rooms (most I could book in one go) that each sleep 4 (2 and 2 children or 3 adults) on 1st July for £96. They have a group rate booking system, but when I put in 8 rooms it came up as £59 a room, so may be better to book in batches ie. lots of 4, using the saver rates.
    www.travelodge.co.uk, click on book a £19 room.

I run a self-catering unit (nowhere near where you need though) and I think you will struggle to get anything suitable.

Firstly, 17 people is a lot for one or two units - my place sleeps only 5. Secondly, June is high season and at that time, I only want to sell full weeks. A stay of one or two nights is as much work for me in terms of cleaning & laundry as a 2 week stay, so I would not be interested in taking a let for only one night.

I second susancs' advice and think you would be better off with Travelodge.
