Be prepared for extra long queues in the PO from Tuesday

I been talking to the staff in our local PO and they have all been sent on a course to learn how to up-sell.
The outcome is that from Tuesday they have to try and sell you other things, mobile phone top-ups, life insurance, broadband etc and to IGNORE THE QUEUES!

the main one in my town is already a joke. comfy chairs, lovely uniforms, meet and greeters but whereas once you could just join a single queue and get served within 5 mins, now you have to take a ticket and wait and wait and wait. I went in, took ticket 75 and they were just serving ticket 28. no wonder they have seats. dread to think what it would be like at the beginning of a month. Fortunately I overheard an assistant telling someone to go to a till nearby if they needed recorded delivery so manged to by pass the system a bit.
This training will only make things worse.

Would I like mobile top-up? No, I'm not a moron, I'll buy it in boots where I can get points
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I don't see how this is going to cause major queues. I think the queues in PO's are bad enough at the moment but you expect it with people doing the likes of parcel sending, passport form checking and car tax, etc.

It's like any other shop where they are trained to ask if you want stamps and top-up's, etc. It's a quick question and most people usually say 'No' and that's the end of it.

at 12.30 today the main post office in the town i work had ONE till open and a que out the door, then another person came over and opened the travel money till. THye have this little person wondering around trying to get people posting not to post recorded but to use their post and go machines that dont even give you a receipt.

eventually they opened a third till and served some people but must have tried to sell me everything under the sun, the bloke next to me was taxing his car and they treied to sell him new insurance!

Why cant they just concentrate on POSTING which is what a POST OFFICE is for.

If i want insurance i go to an insurance co or broker, if i want a bank account i go to a bank

If i want to post something where do i go as its certainly not thepost office these days!

Its not a quick question round here anymore, they really try to sell it and force it and if you say no to one they try another and its not just top ups its everything.

A post office for posting not all the crap that they are trying to sell. It drives me mad

    some excuses:

    1. I only took out my home\car insurance policy recently so am tied in
    2. I don't need any foreign currency, I'm too busy at work to take a holiday
    3. Nope, it's only worth £2.50 so I do not wish to send it special delivery
    4. I would like to send this second class. Is that first class? No, 2nd class - it's really not that urgent.
    5. Would you like to guarantee delivery by 9am tomorrow for only £10 extra? No thanks, RM are so efficient it will almost certainly get there early tomorrow for no extra charge ;)
