Can I Say I Might Upgrade An Item?

I'm selling a laptop (well, a netbook) on eBay - I have more RAM to go in it - but at the same time, it's a sealed unit. I would like to say that if the buyer wants I'll put more RAM in it for £20.
Is this allowed on eBay?

Depends - they may see it as fee avoidance i.e. if the final selling price is £100 + £15 postage and you add the £20 onto the invoice via paypal then although paypal still gets their cut, ebay have only made money on the £100 sale price and not the actual £120. I realise this is not what you are trying to do but you may be better adding two auctions - one for the ram and one for the netbook and mention in each that these can be purchased together for a postage discount (i.e free post on ram if they win the netbook too). Alternatively once the customer has won and purchased the netbook you can ask them if they want to purchase the extra ram (that way is a non-ebay sale after the initial sale is complete). I'd also be wary of opening a sealed unit to add the ram - best let the buyer do it - you may know exactly what you are doing but whats to stop them complaining about the unit no longer being sealed or saying something is wrong with it because you opened it etc - if you are putting the extra ram in get it in email from them that they are happy for you to open sealed unit and add it for them and they acknowledge they are buying an unsealed unit then. (Do you think I am wary of electricals on ebay and that I have had my fingers burned.... lol)Some People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0

Good plan - I might just send them an email after the end of the auction saying that if they want the RAM upgraded then I can do it for £x, but as such the seal will be broken.
