metadata - everywhere!!!

hi again! I have metadata icons everywhere, things like thumbs.db, SThumbs.dat and they are like ghosted?? Also there is a new folder with every one of my files in displayed as a green bubble with a funny letter d in it, and they are XML files apparently...

When I try move say, thumbs.db, pc asks if I really want to do that, it might affect some other files??

Sounds like you've enabled hidden files in explorer.

Assuming that you have Windows XP, open an explorer window (not Internet Explorer).
Go to Tools->Folder Options, then click the view tab, scroll down until you see "Hidden files and folders" and make sure that "Do not show hidden files and folders" is selected.

You might also want to check that "Hide protected operating system files" is also selected.
