Think I'm going to get a neg - not my fault, or is it?

I only sell a few things maybe twice a year and I really didn't think this would be such a problem.
I've never left a negative - even when I've had really crappy sellers who haven't posted for weeks and then left things out of the parcel. I always give individual sellers the benefit of the doubt, because everyone can make a mistake, but I guess I'm just too soft on people.
I admit I should have researched the whole PO thing more, so at least I can say that I've learned my lesson.
I'm still p***ed off that I'm going to get bad marks for communication just because Ebay can't deliver bloody messages though. THAT bit at least is not my fault
TBH, postal orders should be encouraged!
I love 'em.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

I think you answered your own question. If your going to accept a payment you should know how it works0 -
I agree - but if I was sending a PO and the seller wanted to pay it into an account rather than cash it, then I wouldn't bat an eyelid.
It is a payment method with TWO ways of obtaining funds. The buyer did not specify that they wanted it cashing and I had not said that I would.
Therefore I still feel that I had every right to pay it into an account if I wanted.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

But still there would be no need to wait for it to clear.
FWIW I ship the day they arrive as they are as good as cash.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
There are 2 ways of obtaining funds yes, but if one is instant, and the other takes a week, I know which one I would expect the seller to do.
I wouldn't neg for it however, if an apology arrived with an explanation and the item pretty sharply.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
They lady in the bank told me it takes 7 days to clear - exactly the same as a cheque! I specifically asked her how long because I wasn't sure if it would clear faster. Is that not true then?Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0

They may say that they take 7 days to show as cleared (they don't BTW) but they can't bounce like a cheque and are as good as cash and I treat them as cash.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

Ah, fair play then. Thanks, I didn't realise - I assumed the cashier would have pointed that out when I asked
I shall grovel and beg and if I get a neg, it is all part of the learning curve.
Thanks so much to everyone on here though - you've all been great :beer:Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0
