Well, to put you at rest on your question when you phone the crisis line from the the BT phonebox, the screen says "this is a free call" and when the call is ended the screen says "Insert minimum of 40p" just the guy there saying it was a trick they do but it isnt, the calls are genuinely cut off and you have to re-dial the freephone number.

Thaks for the info, it was a genuine emergency and i still could not get through to them.

Hmmmm....you have been calling CL for Living Expenses for the last 5 days and not managed to get through so therefore not managed to obtain any money - but you are still alive and well and posting on the internet?

The only criteria for a CL to be paid for living expenses (which is food and metered gas/electric only) is a serious and immediate threat to health or safety posed by the absence of money that can not be averted by ANY other means.

Given you haven't even been paitent enough to keep trying to get through to the office over a period of a week I am guessing that this is not such a crisis - in which case you are part of the problem I'm afraid...

Hmmmm... how does one go from proposing to spend £500 on a diving course last week to needing a crisis loan now?! As dreamylittledream said, I'm not sure you fit the criteria for a crisis loan...

If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.
  • If there so overworked & understaffed why dont they get up off there !!!!!! and do something about it like employe those who have no jobs... People always moan at others for not having a job but they dont realise that its hard to get a job at this time ... IF YOU HAD A JOB WOULD YOU WANT 2 SWAP POSITIONS ???? ( No you wouldnt and neither would I ) :(

THe position is worse now than when this post was originally made. Many customers are waiting an hour to get through.

THe staff levels are looking to be dropped as well not increased.

Many of the Crisis loan decision makers are only doing the job temporary aswell.

I've never had issues with phoning them. However once I get through and accepted then the problem is getting to the Jobcentre as the one in town closed and moved. I've not had to phoned in ages.

Another issue I had was getting told they would phone me next day can't remember why though. But from what I can mind is that if you phoned after a certain time the decision wuold not be made to the next day. They phone you back. Rather bizzare when you are in 'crisis' when phoning. Maybe common sense has knocked in and this no longer happens?
