help please regarding eConveyancer and Hips4u

Hi all

Sorry i know this has been done before but I wanted to ask a question on Hips4U. I have paid for them to do my HIP as of yesterday and they are coming around to do the energy side of things today. They asked me if i wanted them to do the Conveyancing. I know this is a silly question but i have never sold a house before and i bought this house a decade ago so i can't remember what the process is.

They said they can do the conveyancing for £260 and not a penny more or less. So does this mean this is basically the solicitor fee?

Also has anyone used eConveyancer as i have never heard of them and they are over £200 cheaper than the solicitor i had in mind

Thanks in advance

Ask econveyancer to provide a full written estimate with all their terms and conditions. Read them thoroughly and make sure you understand them.

Make sure you understand what their basic fee covers and what it doesn't cover and how much it is likjely really to cost.

Some "on-line" firms hide away extras which most people think are part of the basic job - like acting for the lender or completing the SDLT form or completing in less than 3 weeks from exchange (1-2 weeks is normal so why do they charge extra for what is normal?).

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
