Unconfirmed Address Okay to Post?

Hi

I understand from reading similar posts that it is now okay to post items to a unconfirmed address as long as PP says okay to post. Would appreciate advise though on 2 items I have recently sold, both to unconfirmed addresses.

1st query is Buyer joined in 2004 but only has a feedback of 1, should I just post and not worry about it?
Tickets to a Concert Sat/23rd May, tkts will be sent Special Delivery.
Buyer BIN and paid PP status unconfirmed but have the green tick Ok to Post.
I sent the buyer a polite reqst asking to confirm his address to comply with PP protection (b4 coming and reading this thread) or that he could pay buy crossed PO or bankers draft and I would refund PP.

2nd Query. Buyer feedback 66 who has sold items this week but not bought since Apr08, requested posting to different address?
Again buyer with unconfirmed address. I also reqst that buyer confirm her address and got the reply that buyer wanted it sending to her new address which is not the address showing on PP. Buyer bought item on 11May and has not responded since the 15th May. I recall reading about must be posted with 7days. What do I do now?

Appreciate any advise.

As long as you post to the address shown in Paypal, and have the green tick and "OK to post" then you should be OK with regard to complying with PayPal's requirements.

In the first case you mention, you will be covered under Seller Protection.

In the second, you will not, as the address the buyer is requesting is not shown on the PayPal transaction screen. You don't need to ask the buyer to confirm their existing address, but they will need to add this rogue address as an additional address in their PayPal account. Unfortunately once they have done this, you will have to refund the payment and ask them to pay again, this time selecting the correct address, so communication by both parties needs to be spot on, and in this case the buyer's communication doesn't seem great.

As I see it, in case 2 you have these options:

    1) Send to registered PayPal address to ensure you get at least some seller protection. Chances are the buyer will still receive the item, but has just requested sending to a work address for convenience. But you can't know that for certain, they could have moved and not updated their address.

    2) Send to the address they supplied, and hope for the best. This is most likely to keep the buyer sweet, but depending on the value of the item may not be a chance you want to take as you may be at risk of a chargeback.

    3) Refund the payment and ask them to add the new delivery address to their PayPal account. If they do not reply, you can go through the NPB process and I think one of the options is 'Buyer requested a different address' or something along those lines.

    ohhh :D
Just to confirm if I have this right - even though an address in unconfirmed and the status says 'partly eligible' instead of 'seller protection enabled' you are still ok as long as the green ok to post is there? For larger value orders I have been refunding the payment and asking them to confirm address or pay by card - would be great if I dont have to do this but was still under the impression unconfirmed means I could be at risk of non delivery claim or unauthorised payment claim.

So far I have sold to a few unconfirmed addresses which had the green 'OK to post' but none have said I was only partly eligible. Would be interesting to see under what circumstances PayPal decide that you do not get full seller protection.

Is there no link on the transaction status page which gives you a clue?

Below is a screenshot from a sample unconfirmed paypal payment (have removed customer details and transaction id etc).

When I click on the Partially Eligible Section on the link it says the following:
    Protection for items not received
When you post the item to the address on this page and provide proof that it was delivered, you're protected against claims for items not received. For complete requirements, see terms.

    Protection for unauthorised payments
Because [removed name] address is not confirmed, we don't provide protection if this payment turns is unauthorised by the card holder. Before posting, we recommend that you contact [removed name] to make sure this payment was authorised. Most of the time, posting to an unconfirmed address is fine. But we always encourage you to help protect yourself.

Had some good help on another thread when an unauthorised payment claim was charged against me but after a few emails saying I had proof of posting to the correct address (unconfirmed) and that the customers date of birth, phone number and email address were all correct on a newly created account then paypal sided with me and the payment was re-instated (still not 100% sure why as like above it was only partially eligible and not covered for claims of unauthorised payment). I am therefore unsure whether to accept partially eligible payments if it says ok to post or should I still refund them and ask customer to confirm address then repay?
