Hi,
I've been asked my mum to find my step dad and uncle a golfing holiday in July time, leaving from any scottish airport, for a week...... and cheap!
BUT i know absolutley NADA, zip, zero, zilch, about golf, and even less about how to find a decent golfing resort for them!
Please, if anyone can push me in the right direction or has any wee tips on how to find the cheapies then can ya let me know???
Thanks in advance
Vicki

Not got time to research this more fully but have a look at Portugal - round the Vilamoura area. You might have to contact the hotel to find out the cost of the golf package but they are on the ball as it were for golfing holidays in this area.
Hope this gives you a starting point.Mags - who loves shopping0 -
It depends on what you call cheap
, but just do a google search and you'll get companies such as yourgolftravel who offer good prices on different regions.
Or look at some of the golf magazine (todays golfer or golfworld etc) websites who normally have links. In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular :eek:0 -
The best one on the market, good for Portugal or Spain aparently.

I was going to suggest Portugal too, either the Algarve or Lisbon area.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0

Should aslo add whats wrong with a week touring Scotland? We have some of the best courses in the World here.0

The OP said cheap, that ain't gonna happen in the Algarve in July. (and of course it will be too hot after midday) Any of the courses around Villamoura are gonna set you back 50-90 euros a round, and then the buggies are an extra 40 euros. Complete rip off, we refuse to golf there ever again. The only way you golf anywhere near cheap is twilights and weekday afternoon specials. Pinto GC did an afternoon special of 2 players and buggie for 95 euros, if you call that cheap.
How about a week of golf in Devon, wonderful countryside (even the rain will be warm) temperate climate, and nice local beer and cider in the evenings. We like Torquay GC and Dartmouth GCThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Thanks everyone!
Just to say, if it was up to my step-dad he would be more than happy with a wee going round the scottish courses. But my uncle wants some sunshine!
so just trying to find a wee bargain so that my step-dad doesnt mind spending more than he wanted lol:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpulsPrincesses wear crowns to remind them that they are beautiful and special because some days its easy to forget. :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls0 -

Another vote for Golfbreaks.com here. we have used them several times and you can speak to tehm as well as booking online
Unless you haev to go july I would suggest the first few weeks of September as weather still very good in Spain/Portugal etc but prices are a LOT lower.
Don't forget you need to add on flights and car hire to all the places you see on most golf specialists (its hotel inc food maybe and golf only normally included in the price you see)
Also consider France as some lovely courses in northern France and like Le Touquet, St omer etc - weather more like SE England so not necessarily sunshine holiday
Also consider booking a normal package tour somewhere like Majorca, Cyprus etc and you can organise golf separately. May work out cheaper than a specialist golf holiday
If money not such an issue consider somewhere like Puerto Banus / Marbella where there are laods of courses within 30 minutes drive and great nightlife on Costa Del Sol BUT you will pay for it!0 -
Anyone with any knowledge would be crazy to suggest playing golf in the Costa del Sol, any Costa in Southern Spain or the Algarve in July. The temperature is always in the highs.
Look to play in the West coast of Portuagl around Porto where it is cooler but still hot.0 -
some of the best value golf is to be found in the Languedoc, south of France. And it won't be as hot as southern Spain/Algarve
france and beyond.co.uk has info about the golf courses, and the many other things to do in the region.0
