Do insurance claims normally take this long?

Firstly I apologise for the lack of spacing on this post, I am writing this on my mobile (the reason will be obvious very soon). My neighbours house was struck by lightning on Friday, the strike took out the phone lines on the whole estate (which are still not working) and has killed my tv, sky hd box and my surround sound. I have put a claim in on my house insurance but everything seems to be taking forever to sort out. My home insurance is with esure who have passed my claim onto another insurance firm who have passed my details onto an electric repair company (confused yet cause I am). Ok they did collect my broken equipment today (a man turned up in a little van and put my equipment in the back with some other tv's he'd picked up from elsewhere, worryingly he was using cushions and blankets as packaging between the equipment). Whenever I ask how long I'll be without my stuff they just brush me off. I understand they have to be careful with people trying it on putting in false claims but watching programmes on a 14" portable tv is starting to get annoying!

Blimey, two working days and you are complaining about delays already.
I wouldnt expect much to happen for at least a week, assuming that they are happy with the claim.0 -
2 working days to collect etc sounds fantastic to me. I had a laptop replaced in just under 3 weeks, repairs might take a little longer.0

When my laptop was damaged by lightning, NU passed it to a firm of electrical contractors who they said would contact me within 5 working days.
I didn't think that was unreasonable (and I am quite an impatient person!) but in the end I think they called me the next day and picked it up the day after.
It wasn't repairable and I got vouchers about two weeks later.0 -
Thought I should post an update:
As it turned out my insurance company were not that bad, initially getting things sorted took a while but within 3 weeks of the lightning strike I'd got all my replacement equipment.
Best part was they replaced my £130 surround sound unit with a £350 one.Cashback earned

Its unbelievable you think this service was anything other than exceptional.
I am surprised they didnt claim lightening was an act of god and refused to pay out.0 -
I had to make so many phone calls the first few days after the strike that I could see the claim dragging on for weeks thats why I originally posted on here.
The esure home insurance policy covers for lightning strikes, earthquakes and floods so basically I'm covered for everything.
The house that actually got struck is still standing empty with the chimney stack still damaged and roof still missing half its tiles.Cashback earned

Fossman, Tesco's were doing surge protecting 4 way plugs for about £9, it might be worth investing in a few of these to prevent this happening in the future0

I picked up a 8 gang Masterplug Surge Protector from Home Bargains the week after the strike so hopefully I'll be fully protected next time.Cashback earned
