Leaking roof at factory. Is there a commercial product to spray in hole??

Hi all,
At the factory where I work there is a tiny hole in the old corrugated/asbestos sheeted roof. We are only a small company, so there's no way we can afford repairs to the roof on the scale we had done last year (£250 call out, £400 for 'Temporary repairs'). We have been up on the roof, and it is very hard to find where the drip is coming from. One of the guys has suggested using clear silicone on all the joints around that area, which sounds possible, but there's no way to say we won't be wasting our time. So my question is:
Is there a commercial product that you can spray into the area where you suspect the hole is?
I imagine there must be: in the same way Radweld repairs a hole in a car radiator or expanding foam fills gaps in cavities etc, etc
Any help please??

£250 call out...... from where... Moscow? Cheeky Bu**ers
We had liquid rubber trowel grade on ours . Can be brush applied too from inside, or the outside as brush grade whole lot can be done from around £40-£48 sq mtr (no call out that I am aware of) + vat probably Details if I can find invoice.0 -
Once a roof like that starts leaking it will only get worse and the end is nigh. Movement in high winds causes the fixings to wear the hole in th panels larger resulting in leaks everywhere. The water runs under the panels and along roof supports so finding where it is getting in is very difficult.
Botch for now, but start saving for a new roof to be fitted. Putting a replacement over the existing is a good way of doing it to reduce disruption to the business.0 -
I've used a THIS before and it was good stuff.0

As davey suggests the p[roblem with asbestos roofs is once they start leaking, leaks tend to keep popping up, from that point you have three options: -
Reroof - Very expensive due to disposal costs and disruptive.
Overlay the roof - This is cheaper as you don't have any disposal costs, but you may be wise to get the existing roof structure checked first by a structural engineer as you could overload it.
High grade flexible coatings, they are not cheap, but it should be the cheapest option, Decothane is one of the more expensive ones, but it is very good, our roofs at work were coated over 10 years ago and they are still holding out.0 -
I think you need to replace the roof sheet with one of the bitumen type sheets you can get
I dont think any of these roof repairs will fix a hole in asbestos, it might do it temporary for a few months maybe a year at most0 -
The decothane certainly works, its a fibre glass reinforced matting system that effectively creates a fibre glass layer over the roof. Its not a cheap option, but cheaper than reroofing (About 75% of the cost) and you are able to get a 15 year guarantee on it.
Check the liquid plastics website.0 -
For a temporary repair just paint whole roof with bitumen paint . Cheap at approx £15 per 5lt which will cover up to 50m2 . Not a long term solution and will be a black finish but effective short term fix
For future over roofing is the way ahead . You can leave existing asbestos on roof as it cost a fortune to remove and dispose of then fix timber 2 x 2 purlings on top of existing and put sheets onto that .
