Hope you can help,
What I want is a excel shread sheet or similar to do once a month and see how it compare to a budget.
1. bank statement & credit card statement into spreadsheet - download on PC
2. categorize and comment each transactions
3. then give me a list of categories and their totals to compare with a budget
4. Must be a PC package as online you pu tall the data and are limited by the site functionality.
I used to get the paper copy of the financial statement and make a note of the categorize on the paper.
Then on a spreadsheet enter all the figures manually and come up with a total.
Then could compare to a budget and look at the exceptions as there is always something.
Also add up all the income and see the total spend v's total income for the past month.
I have tried:-
GNUcash on PC - double entry accounting is over kill and managed a couple of months
wesabe- online, so security question, recently updated web site and seemed to go backwards (very slow now)
Other sites I have looked at:-
Egg money manager - just gives totally of account and not categories of spend
mint- USA only
buxfer
turbocashuk
wholestolemymoney
youneedabudget - I have a budget I need tools to help review last months spend (without manually entering figures)
Many Thanks
G

Try Gnucash again as you can just import downloaded statements if your bank offers .qif files, it will connect directly to Nationwide. If your bank only has .csv files for download, or nothing at all like Egg there are perl scripts that will convert the .csv file or saved web page to .qif0
