Our car hasn't got isofix and the seat fits fine on the belts, we had a chico trio for me and now she is in a maxicosi axis. The axis is brilliant as the seat swings round so it's easy to get her in and out. At least you know you can go out in any car and the chair will fit.Nothing to see here, move along.0

thanks for the quick replies. I've found the seatbelt makes a very tight fit on the Primo Viaggio and instead of fighting with it each time I was thinking of getting the base. I've checked a few other forums but no-one seems to have my model seat and the cmax.0

Ford offered isofix as a free extra on the mk2 Focus. Not many ppl seemed to take up the option though!0

It was a bit of a mess.
Ford had a lot of issues when ISOFIX came out because the factory said that the cars were isofix compatible but that didnt mean they came ready to go with the new owners able to just transfer baby seats in. It just meant the structural support of the vehicle could handle the attachments if they were fitted.
Had several customers who turned up with baby seats and there was nowhere to put them. Involved extra cost and parts and was a right royal pain in the bum because marketing hadnt spoken to production team.
Hence even if you get a copy of the brochure for your car for the right model year quarter it wont necessarily be right.
Agree with previous owners about finding a good seat you can move from car to car. Provides flexibility. If your car is off the road and you have a courtesy car the chances it will have isofix are very slim.
It will always have seatbelts in the back though.0 -
In case anyone is looking to do the same I purchased the Isofox kit from Ford for £20. Quite easy to fit just need to be brave about cutting the seat fabric and only took about 15 mins to do the job. Bought the Isofix base for the Primo Vaggio and it fits fine in the Cmax.0

I bought the Isofix retrofitting kit from Ford and also found it relatively straightforward to fit. To read my blog post with instructions on how to do it, go to spinage.me.uk/23/retrofitting-isofix-for-a-ford-focus-c-max/0
