How did you manage to get credit a couple of months after being discharged? I thought that the bankruptcy stayed on your credit file for 6 years. I was also under the impression that your name stayed on the insolvency register for ever, is this not true then?
Morning! (I had forgotten about this thread!)
As mentioned, you stay listed on the london gazette forever but the insolvency register drops you after 3 months. My BR is still on my credit file and it stays there for 6 years from my BR point (4 years left for me now) and I was surprised to get the credit but that is entirely down to the indiviual creditors scoring systems; its not my decision to make. Vanquis however are charging me (Or rather they would if I didn't pay it off in full each month) 39.9% which is quite tame for Vanquis; they have been known to charge towards 60% so it's not exactly a big risk for them. I have kept things squeaky clean and ensured everything is paid off each month and it's almost time for my £2 off to the credit agencies again to check up on my credit file yearly.
I take this seriously; which I should have done first time round. I don't have a blaise attitude now and if I cannot afford it then I don't get it; credit or not. But I want to improve my life. I want a decent, well paid job and own my own home. Every little thing that helps me get there, afterall.0 -
Congrats Skylight :T

As far as i'm aware the Insolvency Service will always hold bankrupts records but no body can access these as part of a credit check etc, No longer on the database held online but will always be in a filing cabnet I suspect. I do believe Mortgage lenders can access this information.
Bet i'm wrong! :op0 -

and your case files etc are stored off site somewhere, I did ask for something a little while ago the receiver said it would cost me £20 to get the records as they are now held in a warehouse somewhere deep & dark...We all die.
