Curtain fabric

Options
I have been looking for ages for some fabric to make curtains and have found a couple I like. The problem is the place I have found have a serious mark up. I have found some of the other fabrics that they do for sale at other outlets for less than half what they ask. I can't find out who makes these 2 fabrics or anywhere else that stocks them. Anyone know them?

I have been to the fabric warehouse and sorry to say there website promises loads, but there warehouse fails to deliver - I thought their range was v poor. Do you work for them, by any chance as I note your only 2 posts have been about them and they are in Leeds. Instead of posting on here why don't you try and source better fabrics, for example I have asked what this fabric is and where I can find it at a better price, why don't you look into it.

Its not the one you wanted, but I can see good prices here -

Usually I get my curtains from furniture centers that do Curtains. The good ones have sample materials there and can arrange to come to your home.

The fabric is by Fryetts. It's available here at £15.67 per metre (exc VAT) HTH

Crikey! Well done for knowing that  I buy fabrics from Fryetts and I didn't recognise that one, although it looked familiar!

In case anyone is coming on this thread looking for fabric I found this great site whilst searching for my curtains, I now just have to pick between 3. http://www.sandersonfabrics.co.uk/, this is one I love http://www.blendworth.co.uk/catalogue/collections.html also like http://www.merrick-day.com/acatalog/Rosette_Aubergine.html#aF_2dROSETAUBER and the original Fryetts one. I am mistaken the Fryetts one isn't available to order direct it was the Merrick and Day who offered £9 m2 as opposed to the £21 odd that I have seen it elsewhere. Descions, descions!

    Hi patchwork cat

I'm a bit confused as I've never heard of fabric being sold by the square metre ( am I right to presume that's what m2 means?).

How wide was the fabric in the original quote? Furnishing fabric is usually 48"/54"/56" etc (or whatever the metric equivalents are, can't remember!) isn't it, so it's trickier to make a direct price comparison, without digging out the calculator.

Or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick?

I always get my curtain fabric from our local market on a rainy day. Although, that said, our local market is Blackbush (I think it's the largest outdoor market in Europe!!), but have never paid more than about £5 per metre.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

If you're near Birmingham there is the famous 'rag market' (not a very optimistic sounding name, I know). There are numerous traders within the market and also lots of good warehouses nearby too. Some cheap, some not so cheap, but with a wide variety to choose from, all sorts of fabrics of varying quality, some stalls specialise in furnishings, some in clothing fabrics.
From the market itself you can get lots fabric from as little as 50p per metre - which is great if it suits your taste! Alternatively there are Dunelm Mills, which have been good for us in the past.

Dare I mention Ebay? In the past two years I have had some fabulous fabric that would genuinely have been at least ten times more than what I have paid for it - in fact the woman who make my soft furnishings is fascinated by the bargains and it's always the first question she asks - How little did this cost then?
There are lots of sellers who have end of rolls or last whole rolls that they just want to get rid of - hence me rarely paying more than £1.50 per metre from fabrics such as chenille, damask and brocade.
    There's money from Quidco too!
