PGCEs are normally fully funded. Why would applying be a hassle?0
-
Hi there
I am in a quandary. I have started on a two year PGCE last September and tried to find out from the UNI whether there was any slc funding for this course - they didn't know.
For information of funding for PGCEs go to direct.gov.uk/studentfinance0 -

Ring 0845 300 50 90 and select option 2 - new student, when the next menu comes on, just hammer one of the keys and you will be put straight in the queue. You can then explain that you have an ART ID (now customer reference number) from a previous course, but that your password needs resetting.

I've been trying to find out if having two dependent students at the same time is taken into account when parental income is assessed? Are you able to point me in the right direction?0 -

Section 4 of the financial assessment form which your parents will fill in is all about their child dependants with separate sections for children who are in higher/further education and those who are not. Therefore I presume this will be taken into consideration when assessment occurs.0 -
What happens is that there is a disregard per dependent child, so in the 09/10 year every child you had financially dependent on you took £1130 off the assessed income.
The contribution is only split between the two for the maintenance loan, so for example if household income was £51,000 it wouldn't equate to £25,500 per student and enable them to get the whole of the maintenance grant.
The truth in that situation is there would be no grant payable unless one of the students was an 08/09 starter. However, when it comes to the income assessed portion of the maintenance grant, the contribution, which on memory is about £1 for every £10 of income (Hey, I've been on holiday over christmas, and don't have exacts to hand), is split between each child. This effectively increases any loan entitlement.0 -
Can anyone help or has anyone had the same problem?
I am a 1st year nursing student and upon submitting my application to the NHS Bursaries team they asked for my passport, which I sent recorded delivery and included a recorded delivery envelope for it to be returned in. My passport was returned to me during the postal strike sent 2nd class and it has never made it to me, is there anything I can do, they are claiming it is not their responsibility?
