lawn edging - clippings and gravel.
hi all....
recently graveled all my borders and am happy with the result.
however, as the gravel goes right up to the lawn edge, i find edging my lawn a real ball ache as all the grass clippings just fall into the gravel leaving an untidy mess.
ive angled the gravel borders so there is a drop between the lawn surface and the gravel, and have tried collecting the clippings in a seed tray (!) that i move along with every snip of the shears, but as u can imagine, this is very time consuming and not always effective on curvy bits!
im hoping there is in easy answer out there that u clever ppl can point out to me.
thanks in advance...

I think youre stressing this too much. In a few days the grass will turn strawy and blow away. Or paint your gravel green, or put green gravel or beads down.Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

Hey, Ive seen one of those long handled edge cutters with a tray of sorts fixed to it for such a job. Iam sure Mr Google could help.0

i put a palstic lawn edging down, it also works well as a raised seed bed border.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

I used the Wilkos law edging a roll on my lawn, its slightly oval lawn. If it was straight I would have got the more expensive edging from them

well first we used in our garden edging from homebase it did not last long- and we thought not try more.
But a friend from work showed me his heavy duty lawn edging that he bought 3 years ago- and it looks like working well, so we bought ours a year ago- so much easier since.
Bought online and were told that it was not yet in the garden centres when bought it. we gave it 5 stars0 -
Got one of these

Works very well if the 'drop' from the lawn to the adjacent surface is deep enough.
I've got a mower with a good pick-up so clip the edges the day before mowing (doing the day before allows the grass to spring back up) tip clippings on to the lawn where the mower vaccuums them up.
Pain in the behind to store the shears with the catcher attached but if taken off it needs a metal strip to keep the magnet strength.0
