Help 20 minute deadline...HSBC Just made me an offer over the phone?

Hi all,

I am trying to claim financial hardship and up until today I was getting no where. I just got a couple of calls from their hardship team. This first call told me to cut down on Travel expenses to the hospital and to reduce the amount I spend on ciggarettes (the only vice I have left and already reduced by half) and I said this was totally unexceptable. I then just this minute got another call saying I am not in financial hardship but as a gesture of good will they will offer me £290.00 to bring my account back into credit. Bere in mind they accepted the fact that I was in Financial Hardship back in February when I started dealing with the CCCS and they said there criteria for financial hardship is this..... --> Can you keep a roof over your head and buy food, electic, water and gas and thats it? Anything else they will not consider.
I told the guy that theres a bit more to life than that so he put me on hold and then told me he would give £290.00 to bring the account to credit but I have to accept it there and then. I said I wasn't prepared to accept it there and then and could they put it in writing becuase I would like to claim all my money £680+ back.
He said they can't put it in writing as it wasn't an offer relating to hardship but a gesture of good will and I am to call back in 20 minutes to let him know or the offer is off the table.
Help!!!! what should I do becuase they are being really dodgy about things.
