I think that can be easier said than done when your having to call the CSA every couple of days to encourage them to do their job. If I had to put everything in writing, I would be sending them atleast 2 letters a week.
    Been there...Done that!

When I've asked them to confirm things in writing, they say its not their policy!!!
Laughable....and total bo11ocks... NOT TRUE AT ALL!! You should try and get that in writing from them

Whenever I call the CSA, I take a name, the date and time and write down what they have told me, its been vital for me as I'm onto my third complaint letter with them and trying to remember everything they have told me is difficult without writing it down because alot of the phone calls seem to merge into one!
That's why I only deal by letter

I've actually got a book full of CSA phone calls and I've only been dealing with them since July last year - every phone call to them seems to bring me bad news, nothing is ever done and no-one ever recalls. Infact, there have been conflicting info, dates that I have rung them aren't on the system or are a couple of days out etc. I try to stay optimistic and hope that one day I'll call and they will have good news but I've yet to experience this!!
Then please do the letter thing, I do know that it's more time consuming but it's really worth the effort.
Agree with Sou's comments about telephone calls being contradictory. T Calls can be misinterpreted on both sides
  • pd001 - did you get results when writing to them all the time? I would put the time in to write if I knew that it would get more of a response than what I am getting at the moment, whenever I get off the phone to the CSA, I shake with anger and frustration because, like yourself and Soubrette said, they contridicate themselves all the time and its at the point now where I feel like they just say what they have to so that I'll leave them alone!!!

Yes, they have said they wouldn't confirm stuff in writing, I thought it was a bit strange but I've been told this a few times, I've only ever had 2 letters from them, and they were just payment schedules and assessment letters.

Its actually good to hear that I'm not the only person who has problems with the CSA, I have requested my data so once I receive these, I will be composing another letter of complaint - but if you think that I should only correspond in writing from now on, I'll give it a go. It can't be any more stressful than talking on the phone to these incompetant people!!!

Yes they always answered my queries or questions, albeit sometimes in their own weird way. If they answered in a way I found it difficult to understand, then I merely asked them to clarify it....all in writing of course :)
Like I said, sometimes it is a pain, and you do need perseverence

Not in writing they havn't! AND THEY WON'T!
Write to them and tell them that you no longer wish to chat to them on the phone and instruct them to deal with you in writing.
    If they phone you....never speak!
(once they have introduced themselves, DON'T be rude to them, just put the phone down) They supposedly record some / all phone calls for staff training purposes so....dont be rude.
Keep copies of all communication, yours and theirs, don't lose anything!

Send all letters by recorded delivery. If they ask for important documents, send them by registered mail
Build a paper file! Do not lose anything
If you have the time scan everything into your pc so that you have a backup of your paper file

Sometimes it can be quite stressful dealing with them in writing but the advantage is that usually, misunderstandings can be avoided. Bear in mind that sometimes you will have to write a couple of letters a week
