DOE not Paid, What's Next Step?

The CSA deadline for my ex's first DOE payment is today. I have just rung them to see if they have received it and no they havnt. I have been told that it may arrive in the post today and not be dealt with till tomorrow and to ring up on Thursday and they will ring his employer.

Now...what will actually happen. My ex has done his best to avoid paying for 12 years now and the case has only just got back from clerical...and i think the employer will say he is no longer there which would be a lie...but i havnt the energy to prove this.

Thanks for any advice.

The payments don't appear on the system the same day they are paid into the account, Imade a payment on Thursday which appeared on the friday and the payment I made on the friday didnt show on the account until today.
  • I have been waiting since 19th April for my last payment from a deductions of earnings - long story but my ex left his job at the end of March - money still should have been deducted as he got paid weekly and the money was sent to the CSA monthly - on my payment schedule I was suppose to get £239.00. I've been telling the CSA since the 23rd April but they are more bothered about finding out his change of circumstance - even though he was willingly wanting to give them his new job details, they never called him back so are now doing a trace!!! Ridiculous! Anyway, finally spoke to a lady at the clerical team today and she has managed to find out that his employer sent money on the 24th April but this payment has not been received over at the CSA (either that or they are earning themselves a bit of interest off my son's child support!)
In the meantime, my case has been sent to the debt department to chase my ex for this £239.00 - this was before they had established whether his employer had actuall sent any money! I'm not quite sure how they work this system but surely you would think they would check with the employer before threatening bailifs to my ex!!
Had trouble with the CSA from word go - I only went to them because my ex was inconsistent with paying privately and kept lying and saying he was out of work etc. The stress it has caused me, I would sometimes rather do without the money (although it is greatly needed at the moment!)
  • I rang the CSA again today as was told to. No record of payment and i was told that she (the woman i spoke to) would log that i had called on this sheet which all non payment of DEO's is put on..then someone will ring my ex's employer this afternoon or tomorrow to ask why it hasnt been paid. I have to ring...again..on Tuesday.

Now, after 13 years of dealing with the CSA and too many to count calls ending in.."someone will find out for you and ring back in a couple of days" only to ring back in a couple of days and nothing has been done...i am feeling like i may aswell talk to brick wall.
  • This is generally the case with me too - no-one ever has any clue what I am talking about, no notes are ever on the system, courtesy calls are promised but never actually made. Its a constant battle to make them do the job they are paid to do!! I would ring them tomorrow and then Monday if need be. I know its stressful but nobody does anything there unless you prompt them to. I would also speak to a team leader, it always seems to get the ball rolling with me, although it doesn't always make the whole issue get dealt with, they generally will start looking like they are doing something.
    Good luck!

Don't forget to ask for the names of the people that you are speaking to. That way if you call back and ask for a supervisor, you have evidence of your previous calls.

Excellent advice if later you want to make a complaint about them.

Might be also worth jotting down the date and time of the call too.

Coz you can virtually guarantee that 'they' (some csa folk) wont!
    It seems quite common

Some might say that's why it's best to always deal with these people in writing ;)

  • I think that can be easier said than done when your having to call the CSA every couple of days to encourage them to do their job. If I had to put everything in writing, I would be sending them atleast 2 letters a week. When I've asked them to confirm things in writing, they say its not their policy!!! Whenever I call the CSA, I take a name, the date and time and write down what they have told me, its been vital for me as I'm onto my third complaint letter with them and trying to remember everything they have told me is difficult without writing it down because alot of the phone calls seem to merge into one! I've actually got a book full of CSA phone calls and I've only been dealing with them since July last year - every phone call to them seems to bring me bad news, nothing is ever done and no-one ever recalls. Infact, there have been conflicting info, dates that I have rung them aren't on the system or are a couple of days out etc. I try to stay optimistic and hope that one day I'll call and they will have good news but I've yet to experience this!!

I do agree but one of the other disadvantages with phone calls is that advice may be contradictory. For example I have been told my ex says one thing to the CSA in a telephone call but now I have a copy of their telephone notes, this is directly contradicted.

Swings and roundabouts both ways I'm afraid :(

Good luck with your case though
