Line Rental Increase

My 12 month contract with BT is up in 2 weeks. I contacted them to tell them I was giving them the obligatory 14 days notice to quit and I would be transferring to another provider. They asked me who that was and how much they were charging. I told them Primus could offer me line rental at £9.99. He immediately offered me £2 off every month for signing up for a further 12 months. This would appear as a £24 credit on your first bill equating to £9.25 per month. What a result I thought. If they can offer that to me why are they continuing to rip-off so many other customers? Seems to me they are pretty desperate to retain customers under even more fierce competition.

Although BT financial results were poor, they were down to 1 part (Global) having to write down (write off) a huge sum of money, the other
bits of BT did pretty well ( wholesale, retail, openreach)
I dont know why being offered a deal to stay causes such comment how many of Sky TV customers are paying full price and how many are
getting the same programmes but paying less ??, you dont see many posts like 'rip off sky coz my neighbour gets what i get off sky but costs me £46 a month and he gets the same as me for £20'
They recon immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, all BT is doing (now OFCOM allow it) is taking a leaf out of Skys book
