No claims query about Car insurance

Hi,
I am posting this on behalf of a friend.
She has had 2 fault claims in the last 5 years but has had no claims protection. So as long as she doesn't have another prang her No claims is still intact.
Her question is this. Should she pay the extra for No claims protection this year?
We don't really understand the ins and outs of the rules.
