BT Line & Tariff for new customer to get sky

I'm new to the boards so I'll introduce myself...

Hello folks, I'm Dan from Derbyshire.

I wanted to ask a question to see if there's any "getting round" this situation.

I want to get Sky TV, Broadband, and Sky Talk, but currently don't have a phone line connection.
The phone lines are in my house and I know the previous owner was with BT.

The problem I'm going to have is:
1) The reconnection fee it it applies (bonus if not :))
2) The BT tariff

As the tariff's on BT's website all have a minimum 12 month contract tie-in, I don't think I'll be able to reconnect with BT, then get Sky Talk instead of a BT package.

The reason I want Sky Talk in the first place is because it will work out cheaper to have all 3 Sky products than having Sky TV & Broadband, then BT phone tariff.

Anyone come across this before? Is there a way of reconnecting to BT then going straight onto Sky Talk?

Thanks

Call Sky and get them to install a line, then you wont have the problem of being in a contract for line rental with anybody else, Sky were offering a deal where if installing the line incurred a fee then that amount would be credited to the Sky bill ( so free install )
Its not just BT who can arrange a line to be installed, any Service Provider can, its just a lot of them choose not to do so,
  • Wow, didn't know Sky could do that.

    Great news, thanks very much.
  • Hi Dan, I lrecently bought a new build house and already have the line in (they do that now with new build, put all the aerials and stuff in to avoid you ripping a great hole in the walls) and although i have sky TV I originally did not take out the Broadband and calls packaage as i did not have a computer at the time and had loads of free minutes ohn my mobile.
Have now got a laptop and have been trying to get the phoe etc though Sky. To cut a very long and boring story of me being on hold and being told various versions of what was possible . . . Sky can provide the line so you do not have to have a BT line, they also told me I could have 6 months half price line rental so works out at £26.50 for the TV (2 packages) and the talk and BB and then £31.50 after, thats for the medium BB package. Was a total bargain compared with what I thought i would have to pay by having a BT line in first.

    Hope that helps
