Can anyone help, I got sacked from my job on the 6th may by telephone. I have no savings at all. I have signed on straight away but my outgoings are around £800 a month. I rang my mortgage company immediately to find out my options. The best seemed to be lengthening my term from 10 years back up to 24. But they couldn't do this till June. Which means I needed to find £366 for May which I do not have. They have sent me the revised payments direct debit in the post today and they are charging me £35 for the privilige. I thought If Iinformed them straight away of my situation and still getting punished for being honest. I don't have mortgage protection. I have so much to pay but no money to cover it as the £64 of benefits a week doesn't cover a lot. Please help someone I'm desperate.

Were you sacked (dismissed) or made redundant? How long had you worked for your employer? If you were made redundant, did you receive any redundancy payment?
You will need to post a Statement of Affairs (SOA), listing your total monthly income and outgoings."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
also you are entitled to holiday accrued but not paid, no matter how long you work there, and pay in-lieu of notice (depending if you have worked longer then 3 months)The will to save every money saving penny we can0

Is there any possibility of a claim for unfair dismissal ?
Or was it a bang-to-rights job ?Space available for rent0 -
Did you speak to their collections department? Or the mortgage sales helpline? They should offer you more help than they have as lengthening your term does not really help and they have an obligation to do more than they seem to have.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I did speak to the collections department, they never mentioned a £35 fee on the phone. I was sacked and sent my appeal letter in yesterday. It was done for me, its so good. I'm scared of getting my job back, because it is a family firm and they are bullies. I had been at the job for 18 months. Depending on what happens after the appeal process, if they still sack me I will take it to tribunal. It doesn't really help my issues now.0

Did you ask for a payment holiday?, sometimes you can be given six months. Downside to this, is that you will be charged interest of the outstanding amount, but at least it will give you a breathing space until you find another job

First, read through;
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages/mortgage-arrears-help
Lengthening your term, I presume means repayment at the moment. Can you switch to Interest Only?
Then try talking to Job CenterPlus and/or CAB, to see the best way of benefitting from the Govt schemes supposed to reduce repossessions...
"Support for Mortgage Interest" scheme (SMI) sounds a possibility;
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/paying_for_a_home/mortgage_arrears/help_to_pay_mortgage_interest
But there's a 13 week delay in payment, so you need to get solid advice over whether you simply default for 13 weeks, or if there are other options to cover this period.
There could be other schemes. Part of the problem is that Govt have promised all sorts of help, but its not clear exactly what is out there.

I dont know at this stage but it mayb your entitled to compensation, rather then your job back. Try the law society. think thats them. its a free place that will fight your corner. Will double check the name tomorow morning but they could be of big help here. I think they smell unfair like bears and fearThe will to save every money saving penny we can0 -
You dont have any redundancy rights unless you've worked for the company for at least 2 years. What grounds do you have to take them to a tribunal?0
