Sorry if this is in the wrong section if it is please can you move it?
Does anyone know what the expected working life is on a gas central heating boiler?
Don't know what it is called but it's on an outside wall with a vent straigt outside, don't know if that makes any difference
Thanks in advance

you'd getter better reply in gas/plumbing/diy forum. Life of a boiler all depends really on make model and lots of other variables. Is is gas/LPG/ or oil fired? Is it an ordinary combi or a condensing boiler. Has it been regularly serviced etc etc. I have just had a new condensing combi (save on gas and bills) fitted by my friend who's a fantastic CORGI engineer. He told me that the life expectancy of boilers nowadays is only 5 - 10 years. For example if you bought a boiler from Grittish Bas in 10 years time they would not have the spare parts available to fix it.
Hope that helps. If you need any more info just pm me. i know a good forum site which can really help.0 -
I would agree with Sooler, there's no reason why a decent boiler shouldn't last 20 years. There are obviously some very cheap boilers available now, and as the saying goes 'you get what you pay for...'
Whilst BG may only keep spares for 10 years, and often use this ploy to sell new boilers as they are their own 'parts supplier', independent suppliers often keep spares for boilers older than 20 years.0 -
I think it more likely that manufacturers supply spare parts for a particular model for 10 years after they end production it.0
