TV license - online payment not tracked!

6 weeks ago, on receipt of renewal notice from TV licensing, I went on their website and paid the full fee using credit card. Was given a reference in the form of "CC1234567890".
Did not receive any confirmation by post, suddenly yesterday received a bright red reminder notice!

Phone them today, on first call, the CS said "well, it's not showing up in your account, the reference number is useless to us, send your credit card statement to proof you have paid". So I said what's the point of the reference number then? He said something like that's not for him to explain.

Phoned them again, this time a lady CS answered the phone, she's more helpful and tried to trace my payment by checking my credit card number and post code, but still couldn't find it.

So now I have to go through the hassle of sending in my statements to proof I have paid!!!

Anyone thinking of using their website for payments - don't!
