How do you shop? Online or In Store?

I've just put together a shopping list based on my menu plan for next month and I wondered if it was worth doing it online? I've noticed that some of you do it through Tesco and use various money off vouchers - is this a cheaper way of doing things or does it work out about the same?
Any advice would be welcomed. If I can get my shopping for quite a bit less then it may be worth trawling through the tesco voucher thread! If not, then I guess I will stick to Lidl/Aldi.
Thanks,
Mel

The Tesco online voucher thread is easy to use as they only post the codes.
I would recommend online shopping - even with the delivery charge I save a fortune not buying those impulse buys which sometimes would add up to £20.
Also its nice if I forgotten something I just nip into the kitchen and check stock.
Will probably take you a while first time but after a couple of times you will have it down to a fine art.
Would still use Lidl & Aldi though - you will work out which is the best shop for different things - a lot of people on here use all three. There is a couple of threads about what is best value where but sorry I have no idea how to post a link (I will learn one day - its on my to do list!!)0 -
i do a weekly online shop with tesco
we started it when our youngest was almost 2 and a nightmare to take shopping lol
also hubby only had one day off so didnt want to waste it by trawling round the supermarket with 2 kids in tow! (i didnt drive then)
i find our shopping bill is much less than it was as the kids & hub !! would want stuff that wasnt on the list etc
so for me its def much better sense to do it online,i use a code to either get £5 off a £50 shop or 1000 extra clubcard points etc
its handy if the kids are ill and you cant get out to do shopping etc
also if the weather is really bad you can order in the warmth of your own home and get it delivered to your door
i love it : )
never had any problems with tesco delivery etc but i guess its like anything and down to your local store / delivery team
would never go back to shopping in store now !
i do also go into lidl once a week to have a look whats on offer and to buy chicken breasts / tuna / salmon0 -
I've never shopped online and TBH I would feel I'm missing out. I like to see what I'm buying and sometimes there are some very good 'whoopsies' which are v.v.good (400g strawbs at 15p! - I got 6 packs) which I would miss online. But I am fortunate as I have no young children and I pass Tesco on the way home from work so I don't have to go out of the way to shop.
Admittedly I do overspend cos I see some offer which I hadn't budgeted for but I try to think of my menu when buying these things.
I don't find that Aldi is cheaper for some items than Tesco but I do like Lidl for their veg but I have to drive out of town so it's swings and roundabouts as to whether I save in the long run."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
I do a mixture of both depending on how organised I am, I check out fixture ferette to see what on offer at which stores. order big shop from tesco then go to Asda and Sainsburys to pick up the offers that I think good values.GC: £400/ £00

I do a mixture of both. TBH I find I spend more when I shop online because I find all the special offers which I would have to route round the shop for otherwise!! The Tesco money off vouchers are not as plentiful now as they were so that is also a consideration. I go to Aldi for certain stuff, but often find that I am tempted by cheap impulse buys, same with Lidl. Alot of Tesco value stuff is nice and they have plenty of bogofs too, which is good, and I have noticed of late that it isn't just the junky foods which are on offer. The online shop is invaluable for heavy items though, and the Tesco delivery staff are always really nice and helpful, unlike the Asda and Sainsburys ones I have had who just dump the stuff!!Jane

I've never shopped online. I really enjoy supermarket shopping and just love buying food, thinking about things to cook etc...This isn't really a budget approach, as we tend to buy the odd thing that isn't essential, and also stuff for the cupboard/freezer but I like to be able to pick out my own fresh veg (loose) and check out the reduced stuff.0

I'm an in-store shopper. I like to wander round to find BOGOFs that are mainstay items (I keep the 5 year old busy as 'trolley manager' lol) but I've also had some great bargains with the in-store promotion peeps.
Just last week - packet of 10 Finish Dishwasher tabs at normal price, but get 2 x 12 packs of Quantum free - saved a packet and have stock for ages now.
I have a strict shopping budget which I stick to (and son chooses 1 treat per trip that I steer him in the direction of, so its still a bargain!) and I guess it's sad, but working full time, it's a trip out and the petrol is usually cheapest there (though not this week!)Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180
