do you have any links to any bad reviews of the mmt?
I don't - I am sure there has been on here somewhere.

Reckon someone will come along soon with some!! Give it time!

Alternatively - do another thread asking for views and also google..

I had a test drive in a Toyota verso with MMT gearbox and it was horrendous, you had to remember to lift your foot off the accelerator when it was about to change gear, when I told the salesman I hated it he confessed he hated it as well and advised against buying it as the resale value would be a lot less than a manual (regardless of book value) as most customers didn't like them either.

I've got a manual Aygo Blue Slate, it's an excellent little car which regularly gives over 60mpg with my light foot

Just a heads up that after a douzen U-turn decisions, we've put a deposit down on an i10 classic with metalic paint.

She shortly gave up on the aygo after thinking about the cost and went after a used polo, but nothing came up at a sensible price in the south west where she lived. She badly wanted a car so took a few more test drives on the i10 and realised the boot space wasn't too bad an issue, especially as she won't have many passengers.

The funny thing is that the local dealer after doing all the hardwork with test drives and a sales pitch, decided to charge a credit card fee and 'preparation charge'. It really rubbed me up the wrong way so I tried dealers up to 30 miles away and found one who didn't charge any of the above and threw in mats as well!!! I was quite surprised about the card fees, they really do add up on 4 figure purchases. Also the deposit was half the size at the dealer we paid at.

Anyway she won't have the car until September, and the bad news is her current car needs an MOT the month before it gets scrapped!!! Is there any way round this?

I have to disagree with jeanieblue's advice about these small cars perhaps not being safe enough just because of size. In this specific example the lady is moving from a 19YO car, anything new at a car dealership will protect the occupants better in a collision than that.
Much more important than the size of the car is the Euro NCAP rating. I don't know what the Aygo's or i10's scores are, but they'll be 4/5 or 5/5. Compare this to the previous Land Rover Freelander which got 2/5. Which one is safer?
Glad OP got sorted in the end.
