Advice please!!

My partner has been paying maintenance for years through CSA to his ex-partner for their twin boys who are 16 and still at school. One of the boys has now got a job - where he works all day Saturday, Monday ( Monday has been ok'ed with the school) and Thursday after school - He is planning on leaving when he finishes his exam to start a full-time position. This isn't through Skillseekers or any other recognised training scheme.
The son only receives wage of £35 at the moment which will be increased to £70 when full-time. The company (which is a hairdressers) do their own in-house training and and I believe this is why he has little pay ie: to cover training costs.

I know as a 'non-resident parent; you pay child support until the 'parent with care' stops receiving child benefit.
How will this new job affect PWC's benefits?
Will sons new job affect our maintenance payments?

We do not grudge paying maintenance but its an uphill struggle trying to make ends meet at the moment. We are already using the CCCS to help with our debts.
We pay £83 per week at the moment, £20 of that is arrears which we accrued when PWC first contacted the CSA in 2002, but CSA took 48 weeks to deal with it and we accrued £3000 worth of arrears (we were still paying her over this period ( maybe not as much as we should have - but at the time it had been a joint decision), but didn't have receipts to cover all payments.

Help please!!!!!!!

Altho you are struggling, if your csa payments stop, maybe youcould still help support the youngster by giving a little towards his upkeep because i am sure his mother will be supporting him as well. As you say above life is a real struggle for adults, so if this kid is only gonna be on £70 per week he has still got his keep to pay for and i am sure his mother is still gonna be helping support him, so would probably still need a bit of help.

I think that you will find that when he starts in fulltime employment then you dont pay anymore for that child. I though may be on CSA1 in which case I dont think it matters if just one starts work. Kellogs may be more help on this.

The child will now be classed as a non dependant so will affect PWC benefits, with it being only £70 pw i imagine it wouldn't be too much.

If you have arrears they still need paying, however inform CSA that the child is leaving education and your payments should be altered accordingly.

I don't think I actually said anything about stopping maintenance payments. We are quite willing to pay what we can afford and if we can get maintenance payments decreased, it benefits us and his son.He actually stays with us 2 nights per week, his best friends house 2 nights a week and only 3 nights with his mum. We also give the son money whilst he is here as he has to give significant amount of his earnings to his mum.
However, I do believe that there is something seriously wrong with system when his mum can go on holiday to Thailand for 3 weeks without the boys 2 months ago and is just back from a long weekend in Spain (again without the boys), whilst over the last year having her whole house re-decorated and a landscape gardner in!...She's not even working!
Whilst we have a cooker thats not working and toddler running about on uncarpeted floors because we can't afford to carpet them!

i did not say that you wern't supporting said child. just based on your original post i only mentioned that you might be able to help a little IF the csa payments stopped/ As you have further explained in above post, you obviously are already doing that.

Know just how you feel, yes the system is wrong and needs changing. Though to get political backing for that is very difficult, pos they are all to bussy putting in expence claim forms!

mind you perhaps the twins mother couldnt afford to carpet her house when her kids were small like yourself and now that they are older she is getting the chance to do things she couldnt afford to when they were young.

If she is in debt by the sound of it that is down to her, no sympathy!

If she can now afford to go to these places why not take her children with her so they can see some of this world, and the money is used for the children, or is it just for her!

I don't see what the effect of this on the PWC benefits is any business of the NRP or indeed the NRPP:confused:
