Direct Line - Should I let sleeping dogs lie ?

About 7 years ago I took out a 4k loan with Direct line.
All went ok then I fell pregnant and went on Maternity leave so both parties agreed to old off paying monthly payments as per the Payment protection Plan.
After going back to work I never contacted them nor did they contact me.
2 years later I received a letter from Credit Solutions Limited saying that they have now taken over the debt and wanted it paid back immediately (£2,500 or so).
I negotiated a £20 month payment plan.
This has been going on now for a few years.
I now pay £30 per month and I owe £1900.
They even offer me a one of final payment of £900 a few months ago but I can't afford that.

Are questions are :
As the loan is now in the hands of a debt collection company can I reclaim back.
As I asked for a few months non payment due to being on Maternity can I claim.
Is it too long ago to reclaim back.
Is it worth digging up old ground when I'm happy to plod along paying a monthly fee and they don't really cause m any problems of late.
Will trying to claim make things turn nasty.

Many thanks

    Hi there

I don't think it makes any difference if your loan is with a debt agency or not, there are many here in the same situation reclaiming.

If you made a successful claim, this may lower your chances of reclaiming, but then you may still have a good reason to reclaim or maybe complain.
Someone posted on here the other day, and even though they made a successful claim, they were refunded, but think it was a less amount, but still, it was quite a bit.

Some are still successful in reclaiming no matter how long it was, however your chances maybe slimmer than recent cases, but give it a go if you think you were mis sold this for any reason, if you don't try you will never know.
Do you still have any paperwork on this, such as the agreement, if not they may send this to you when you first complain free of charge, or you can try by requesting for a copy by enclosing £1 cheque or postal order payment and they should supply by 12 days, but again the chances of also receiving the agreement may be a little late, as most only keep your information for 5 maybe 6 years, saying that I was sent a copy of agreement as from 2001, so give it a go.

It should not turn nasty, if you have been mis sold, your only trying to get your money back.;)

More info, templates and the guidelines to reclaiming on the link here

    Good luck.
