have booked a holiday over christmas to Thailand and am looking for travel insurance that will cover for cancellation due to service reasons just in case. Anybody know of highstreet insurers that offer this or will i need to cover with specialist company.

I always use a specialist company in case of leave cancellation etc. (try www.trinity-ins.com) and quote FDB001 for an extra 5% discount
Others you could try are www.MRLinsurance.co.uk/Supercover and quote FD for a discount of 10%
or www.tfis.co.uk
there may also be some others if you check out www.forcesdiscounts-mod.co.uk

Try LloydsTSB, I have insrance as part of my bank account and it covers me. Do not forget if you are ever out of pocket as a reslt of the cancelation of a holiday due to service reasons there is the 'Refund of Nugatory Holiday Expenditure' that you can claim against; details in JSP 752.0
