IF there is a hosepipe ban, then strictly speaking you cannot syphon the bath water as you will be using a hosepipe!
I remember this coming up an a FAQs site on a utilities website a few years ago, can't find a link to it but it was mentioned.

The hosepipe ban legislation is a vague on the subject, but opinion in the grey water industry appears to be that if you aren't drawing water from the suppy using a hosepipe that it's OK.

Any other interpretation makes for a whole mess, since rain is just grey water that's been stored in clouds.

Agree, but how is anyone to know that a hosepipe through a window is not connected to a tap?

For some person intent on making a complaint, that is all they will need to see, (the hosepipe).

    Mortgage-free Glee!
How about getting a cheap garden pond pump. I fear running a pump that attaches to a drill would rapidly knacker the drill. With a pond pump you can just drop it in the bath and attach a hose to the other end.

I bought one of those drill pumps as they were on offer in Woolworths before they shut down - useless! Buy a simple pond pump as you need to pump a decent amount of water, else it will be on for ages.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

we've got a battery operated pump for our fish tank that we attach a hose to for emptying and filling. i expect it would do the job you get them for £10/£15 in pet shops. or what about a marine bulge pump think they start at about £8 and could connect to an old car battery with crocodile clips.
slowly going nuts at the world:T
