Will severance pay affect my income protection insurance payouts?

I have been unfit for work for 3 years due to ill health and receiving monthly income protection insurance (PHI) payouts. Shortly my employer is going to terminate my contract due to ill health and will award me a lump sum worth 3 months full pay.
Will this lump sum need to be declared to the insurance company and if I do will it affect my insurance payouts?
