Is there such thing as a wireless hard drive?

I'd like a hard drive that I could connect to wirelessly (but secure) that I could store in a different place from my computer. That way if my computer gets pinched, I'd have a backup hidden.

Wireless hard drives probably exist, but I can't think of any. If they do exist, as a standalone (you could accomplish your "hidden drive" by using a second computer), they'd probably be quite slow - designed to sync with your computers hard drive rather than be used as the actual drive.
Could a wired portable drive do the same job? You could sync it regularily and hide it really well. You could even take it with you ... Portable drives are quite cheap (passport drive) (bigger drive) (I'm sure someone can find a cheaper one!) and usually connect via USB2 or firewire. Third option is regularly backing up onto DVDs or CDs.
Edit: The reviews of the larger drive linked above aren't good ...0 -
What you are looking for is a wireless network storage device.
Kind of like this:

Believe Staples have got these in store. They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -
Yep, get a NAS (Network Attached Storage).
They're basically external hard drives that can be connected to the network. Pop your router in a draw somewhere, and have it connected via cable nearby."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
