Car Insurance - Any Ideas??
My partner has recently passed her test (Dec 2008) and been driving my car (on company insurance, any driver) she now has been given a car (Escort 1.6 P reg) and has been quoted £600 to insure....
She is 27 yo
Having only had company insrance for 20 years this seems very expensive??
Any recomendations on how to do this as cheap as possible?
All help appreciated

Thats not a bad quote for a newly qualified driver, albeit over 25.
Have you done the usual, compere the market etc0 -
Price doesn't seem too excessive to me.
Best advice is as mentioned above to use comparison sites and then look on cashback sites such as quidco to see if you can get any back - sometimes you can get over £100 back (but this isn't guaranteed).0 -
Try getting a quote for comprehensive with and without a big excess (You only pay the excess if your claiming for the repairs to YOUR car following an accident) its normally cheaper than TPF&T on old cars0

Price seems very good for a new driver.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

For a 1.6 escort that's good. At 26 when I had just passed I paid about £800 on a 1.3 Skoda. The main reason for the cost for me though is living in a high risk area. So long as you follow martin's guidelines in the car insurance article (insurance link) and get all the quotes you should be in a position to know what's cheapest. Only thing I would add is to try some of the cheapest ones directly on their own website.
Main thing you can do to reduce the cost is add parents as named drivers, or even if she adds you as a named driver (particularly if you're an experienced driver) this can also reduce the cost.0 -
I paid £400 10 years ago on a 1.0 metro! I paid £940 to insure my first car, a 1 litre Vauxhall Nova, 16 years ago. Thankfully I have never paid as much since and had much nicer cars.0

Tried Swiftcover? I have a mate who has insured him and his GF on a 1.8 Astra her on a provisional for just over £300 with these.
They also come top of the comparisons for my Insurance also.0 -
Yeah this is not a bad price considering she is a new driver since Dec 2008.
Is there anyway that she could go on YOUR insurance or somebody else's to save money?Thomson 757 Man0 -
