Road Tax

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me.

I have had my V11 form through the post for my tax renewal. The charge is £79.75 for 6 months & £145 for 12 months.

Now when i go on the website to make my payment it increases to £82.50 for 6 months & £150 for 12 months.

Now im not using my credit card so no extra charge should be added! correct?

Has the road tax all the sudden gone up? If so, if i go to the post office can they charge me the higher amount or will they charge what it says on my V11 form.

Thanks

Presumably the charges have gone up since the reminder was printed. I'm sure that there is mention that that may happen on the reminder, isn't there?

You have to pay the new fees, even if you go to the PO.

They will charge you the increased amount and say the reminders where printed pre budget.

    Same situation here.

On the right hand side of the form there is some red writing stating

"the rates of duty shown were correct when printed. However changes are due to take effect which may mean a different rate is payable depending on when the license is purchased. The earliest you can apply is 05.05.09"

so even if you go to the Post Office with the form you will be charged the higher rate

Best thing to do if the VED price catches you out is to buy Post Office savings stamps every week. Maybe 5 quid or so.
