Can anyone help me?:o

I asked on the forum I most commonly frequent here, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=21654471&posted=1#post21654471
and the person who usually helps me with my technophobia suggested I might need to come here. :)

I am using an approximately 6 month old Sony Vaio and using Firefox for internet searches. No much is stored on it, Its mainly for surfing, and emailing (I tried to download a free windows alternative recommended on this forum but that doesn't work so I don't word process on this computer).

Anyway, the problem to day ..well always, but restricting me to day, is that the computer doesn't recognise I have downloaded flash. I am tring to view property details on a site which demands I use flash and the screen just tells me I do not have in installed. Well, I do, and I reinstall it frequently in the hope it will work one day, but perhaps I need to do something wih the computer to enable it?

  • I had a similar problem this week, the Adobe site was saying it had updated but Internet Explorer just wasn't updating.

In the end I downloaded the update as a Zip file from the Adobe website, onto the desktop, then shut down IE, then install the exe file and it worked.

I always find it useful to use this page to test the players have loaded.

It tests or loads if necessary the latest shockwave & flash player software from adobe. Also you can test the authorware by following the link from the same page.

You're using firefox, so choose save, save it somewhere and then the Firefox download window will pop up showing you the progress of the download (should be called: installflashplayer.exe)

When it's downloaded, right click on it in the download window and choose run.

You'll get a couple of warnings about running untrusted software but so long as you're sure that you definitely downloaded it from adobe it'll be fine.

Once the installer starts it will ask you to close firefox, which you will need to do before it can install properly.
