Car Clamping Scenario

Hello,

I'd be grateful if any of you could give me any advice on the below. I know the chances of claiming any charges back from clamping companies are very slim but I’m still interested in your thoughts never the less.

The incident happened at a drum studio, which we hire out quite a bit. The way the complex is set up is that enterprise own the offices and ‘Scream studios’ rent part of the building out, however they pretty much own the entire bottom floor. Just like any other normal time we parked up, unloaded our equipment and went directly into the studio. The incident happened about 2 hours after being there when my girlfriend went out to her car to find the car being clamped with the guy still there. He basically said that we didn’t have a permit in the car window (which we never have done). We subsequently explained that we were in the studio not just some random parking on private property. He followed on saying if we had parked round the corner (the car park is like an L shape) he would have came in and asked if it was anyone within the studio. However being the type of companies they are they said there’s nothing they can do, it’s already been logged etc!! The car park isn’t labeled in any way to suggest that parking on one half is ok but the other half will get you clamped. There are signs up and around the car park but because we were renting the rooms and using the facilities we thought we could prove we were there and it would be fine?

Quite a long story, so I don’t want to go on…. but I do think that the studio should either make people more aware when booking that it’s more strict now! Also no one was in the office when we arrived to be able to obtain a parking permit (which I’d like to add is a piece of A4 paper saying ‘Permit’) or could we speak to Enterprise to explain in fact we were parked on his or her land but as customers?

Thanks for any suggestion guys, the money isn’t an issue but I feel that seeing we explained we thee as customers and proved that with a receipt we have been hard done by.

Regards
Adam Stillwell
